Sensitivity as a superpower…
Presented by Lily Carter Johnson | Speaker
Birth Doula | Disability Advocate | Corporate America Dropout turned Entrepreneur | Autoimmune and Brain Tumor Awareness |
Listeners will view themselves with a new lens- assessing their own skills that may have been a weakness once, and taking them as their new superpower. Not only can I pull stories from across my life but I can captivate a crowd with relatability and humor.
I now work in the ultimate empathetic field as a doula and former homebirth midwife assistant, I always saw my sensitivity as a child and teen as a weakness, as a teenager I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, It catapulted me into a life of working in nonprofit management, then-with the impending graduation with my bachelor’s in business… I took a job with corporate America in Amazons fulfillment centers- this was soul crushing to the highly sensitive person in me. I set out to be the absolute best manager I could be- until I decided to take a leap of faith and use my sensitivity and empathy to build a business where it was appreciated as a skillset- rather than being stuffed down and encouraged to "toughen up" in the Amazon old boys club. In the birth field it serves me in the most extreme circumstances. I built my business from the ground up, passion led and hopeful. I dove head first into researching empathy and sensitivity and how it serves us better as humans, sales people, and in our relationships. I can proudly say I am well-known in my community as being a cheerleader for everyone and always putting relationships with people first. At the crossroads of business, passion, and advocacy- that is where you’ll find me cheering on my community.
